Since it is Thursday, we have the week's report of new unemployment claims. The number is down to 405,000. That is a significant drop from last week which is good news. On the bad news side, this is the 14th week in a row with a figure above 400,000. At that level, the economy is nowhere near producing enough jobs to reduce unemployment.
