Amazing how quickly the Democrats abandon Occupy Wall Street

That did not take long. The media allies of the Democrats are now busy reporting how Democrats are keeping their distance from the Occupy Wall Street movement. Here is how the AP reports it today: each of the Democrats and Occupy Wall Street "holds the other at arm's length. There's little benefit to Democrats in opening their arms wide to a scruffy group that has erupted in violence, defied police and shown evidence of drug use while camping in public parks across the country."

So how accurate is that? It is a total lie; the Democrats ran to embrace Occupy Wall Street and are just jumping ship now that the excesses and criminal behavior by many in the movement are causing revulsion among many Americans. Here's the proof; look at the recent past. First, here's an excerpt from ABC News on October 9, 2011: "House Democratic Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said she supports the growing nationwide Occupy Wall Street movement, which began on the streets of downtown New York City in mid-September."

From Politico October 31: "Now Harry Reid is jumping on the Occupy Wall Street bandwagon."

Press release from the Congressional Progressive Caucus (all Democrats) on October 7, 2011: "Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) Co-Chairs Reps. Raúl M. Grijalva and Keith Ellison today released the following statement in solidarity with the demonstrators on Wall Street and around the country:

'We have been inspired by the growing grassroots movements on Wall Street and across the country. We share the anger and frustration of so many Americans who have seen the enormous toll that an unchecked Wall Street has taken on the overwhelming majority of Americans while benefitting the super wealthy. We join the calls for corporate accountability and expanded middle-class opportunity....'"

Democrat National Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on October 11th in the Hill:
"DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) on Tuesday said the nationwide Occupy Wall Street protests are 'symbolic of the frustration that middle class folks and working people feel that the wealthy always seem to have the wind at their backs....We understand their frustration, we applaud their activism.'"

The real truth is that the Democrats and Occupy were not at arms length, but rather in a full embrace. But then again, why should the AP let the facts get in the way.
