The IRS Scandal Grows

It seems that each day brings new woes for president Obama in the IRS scandal.  Today's installment comes from White House spokesman Jay Carney changing the story that the White House is telling.  Carney confirmed today that the Counsel to the President was told on April 25th about the investigation into the IRS's targeting of conservative groups.  Previously, Carney said that no details of the investigation were provided to the White House Counsel; today that changed and Carney admitted that the conclusions of the investigation were passed on to the Counsel.  Previously, Carney said that the Counsel did not tell anyone else.  Today, Carney admitted that a number of senior White House staff including, among others, the president's Chief of Staff were told.  Carney now says, however, that none of the staff told Obama any of this information.

Let's work this thing through:  the Chief of Staff is told that a major political bombshell is about to explode; a report is coming which will find that the IRS illegally targeted conservative and Tea Party groups for months and years prior to the 2012 election.  The Chief of Staff surely recognizes the political toxicity of this news; it could easily destroy any chance for success during Obama's second term.  So what does the Chief of Staff do?  According to Carney, he keeps it all secret from the president.

How can Carney actually say things like this?  It is inconceivable that the Chief of Staff learned this explosive news and kept it hidden from Obama.  INCONCEIVABLE!

I think that it will not be long until we learn that the president knew since late April about the misconduct at the IRS.  I think we will also soon learn that Obama did nothing, absolutely nothing, once he learned of the illegal activities underway at the IRS.
