Shouldn't They Be Celebrating?

The former Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, is about to be sentenced for structuring financial transactions so that they did not have to be disclosed.  Hastert was allegedly using cash to pay for the silence of men with whom he had sex many decades ago when he was a high school wrestling coach and they were on the team.  The statute of limitations for child abuse has expired, so Hastert cannot be prosecuted for the alleged child abuse.

One thing about this confuses me.  What now seems to be established is that the former Speaker of the House is gay or at least bi-sexual.  As far as I know, that makes Hastert the first gay high official of the American government.  There are rumors about some presidents, but those are just rumors and nothing more.  But here's a gay Speaker of the House.  Shouldn't the gay community be celebrating?

Think about it.  When the first gay player was drafted by the NFL, it was celebrated as if a major victory had been won by society.  Isn't having a gay Speaker of the House more important than a gay NFL draft pick who doesn't even make the team?  So why are all those activists silent?
