Why Is This Different

There was a shooting in the Cascade Mall in Washington last night.  Five people are dead.  Police have released a picture of the man believed to be the perpetrator:

    

 

The guy is repeatedly described in the media as Hispanic.  Why?  He doesn't look particularly Hispanic in this photo or the other, less clear ones, that are available.  There do not seem to be any witnesses who heard this guy say anything, so there is no recognizable accent to guide police.  I say again, why is he Hispanic?  After some of the other recent attacks that were carried out by Islamic terrorists, the media never said that the people being sought looked like Arabs or Middle Eastern or Muslim.  In Washington, however, we get the flash that the perp is Hispanic.

 

It may well be that when this guy is caught, he will turn out to be an illegal alien.  You can bet that the press won't mention that.  He could turn out to be a terrorist who entered the country as a Syrian refugee.  Again, you can bet that we won't hear about that from the media either.  This guy will be Hispanic because that doesn't threaten any media narratives.

 

We cannot continue to have a double standard.  Whoever carried out this hateful crime should be identified in full.  That has to apply in all cases.
