Jeffrey Epstein's "friends"

According to reports, Jeffrey Epstein "committed suicide" while in prison two days ago.  I don't want to address the rumors pertaining to his death, just the news coverage of his life.  On Friday, just before he died, court documents were unsealed that identified some of the men who supposedly were involved with Epstein's sexcapades with underage girls on his private island and elsewhere.  Aside from Bill Clinton, who was a frequent guest on the island, the biggest names were Britain's Prince Andrew and the former Senate Majority Leader, Democrat George Mitchell.  The British press had a field day with the accusations against Prince Andrew (who totally denies involvement with underage girls).  The American media, however, keeps talking about connections between Epstein and President Trump even though there is nothing in these documents that claims that Trump was ever involved in any of this.  I read one account that pointed out that the father of one person allegedly involved got named the Mar-a-Lago employee of the year (he was a groundskeeper) when he was leaving to go elsewhere and that Trump wrote that he was eligible for rehire should he want to come back.  That's not a scandal; it's just silly.

There are pictures of Trump with Epstein.  That's no surprise; Epstein used to frequent Mar-a-Lago around 2000.  Trump, however, eventually barred him from the property because of alleged inappropriate behavior with young women.

Personally, I don't care much about this story.  Epstein is dead.  He admitted criminal acts in a federal prosecution over ten years ago.  I do think that if the media is going to make a big deal about unproven allegations against big shots, they should do it honestly.  Of course, I realize that's a lot to expect:  honest in the mainstream media.

The view from afar

I’ve been out of the country recently in places with little American news coverage. It has been great.  So much less to wade through each dayto avoid the nonsense. 

The effect of the Tariff and the Currency Manipulation

It’s important to realize what happened with the new tariffs announced by the USA and China’s response. The President put 10% tariffs on three hundred billion dollars of imports from China. The Chinese devalued their currency in response. The media “experts” and the Dems scream this will hurt consumers but they’re wrong. First, not all tariffs will pass through as price increases. Second, the devaluation will result in lower prices in dollars for Chinese goods. That price cut offsets the tariffs. In essence China will pay the tariffs because it will get fewer dollars for its good while the USA will get the taxes raised by tariffs. Consumers will see little if any change.

This will just put more pressure on China

Of course, the whole issue is not this simple, but those who talk about how this hurt consumers are still wrong.  Don’t hold your breath waiting for the exerts to admit this though. They never admit when they’re wrong. 

Just the Facts

After the shootings in Texas and Ohio, we are being inundated with misinformation. For example senator Murphy of CT tweeted that 19 of 20 mass shooters are not mentally ill. He has no basis for this. He just doesn’t want the focus to be on mental illness. Why can’t we have honest discussion?  Why should every debate center on identification of lies from morons like Murphy?

The Dem Debates Number 2

The second set of Dem debates are over. What did we learn?

First, Old Joe Biden still can’t do well even when he has prepared zingers. He seemed lost at times.
Second, Liz Warren is incapable of saying her health plan would raise taxes. She was asked three times and wouldn’t answer that simple question.
Third, Kamala Harris couldn’t duplicate her first time performance. She too seemed unable to put together reasonable responses
Fourth, Bernie Sanders seemed angry. No. Surprise.
Fifth,  Booker, DeBlasio and O’Rourke proved they really are morons
Sixth, Mayor Pete showed that his 15 minutes are over.
In sum, the winner was Trump again. 

The way to watch the debates

Tonight and tomorrow when watching the Democrat debates keep asking yourself one question: Is the speaker offering a reasonable solution?  It’s not enough to state a problem. It’s not enough to denounce corporations or the military or the President. A candidate has to have something to offer and that something has to be realistic and likely to make things better.

You decide if you hear anything like that. I heard nothing even close to this at the first debate. I doubt the Dems have anything like this. 

Baltimore Is Not Good = Racism

Baltimore is a mess. It has a super high crime rate, much poverty and poor conditions. President Trump pointed this out. So what’s the lefts response?  They call him a racist. Really, the same people who claim to care about minorities now say talking about poor conditions in a minority majority city and pointing out the failure of a man in power there 30 years is racism. That’s just nuts.

When they got nothing the left screams racism!
