And so we continue

Today's news brings word that president Obama is going to speak at the White House this morning on how he wants the fiscal cliff problem to be resolved. Then he is off on an international trip. In other words, nothing has changed even though the election is over. Obama is not going to meet with congressional leaders in private to try to work out a deal. Instead he is going to make a speech. No gaps will be bridged. No understandings will be reached. Obama will just make another speech.

My guess is that at some point, there will still be a deal to prevent the cliff from being reached. In the interim, the worry about the problem will continue to rise. Too bad Obama could not actually do some work on it.
