Cruz de la Verdad

Senator Ted Cruz has stopped talking in the senate.  It would be nice to think that Cruz accomplished something, and maybe he did.  We cannot yet know how this plays out.  The truth is that too many people are focused on whether or not Obamacare gets defunded; it won't.  We can all take that as a given.  Nor will the government shut down; that is another given.  But maybe Cruz's theatrical move in the senate will bring the truth about the impending disaster which is Obamacare to a bigger segment of the population.

Right now, America is approaching the moment when the spin will prove insufficient.  The politicians can tell us how Obamacare will be wonderful or terrible over and over again, but the actual impact will hit millions in the next four months.  Some folks will get insurance who never had it before.  Some will lose the insurance that they have received for years from their employers and will be unable to replace it.  Others will see the premiums paid for their insurance soar to heights unimagined while Congress was debating this law in 2010.  Another group will hear from their doctors that they are retiring or restricting their practices so that they do not accept insurance.  Some folks will lose the ability to use the local hospital under their insurance.  Some will no longer be able to get medical tests nearby or to buy medicines at the local pharmacy.  Others will see the costs of their healthcare fall due to subsidies from the state or federal government.  In other words, reality will set in.  It won't be talk anymore; it will be actual facts.

There are going to be millions of unhappy people who get zapped by Obamacare.  Will they outnumber those who like the changes that Obamacare brings?  My opinion is that those who are unhappy will outnumber the happy ones by far.  Indeed, the damage wrought by Obamacare is likely to stir up a hornets' nest of a sort not seen in America in decades.  This is the policy that the Democrats and Obama wanted.  This is what they got.  Now let's see them live with the consequences.
