Another Confirmation of Hillary's Collapse

Today's confirmation of the looming demise of Hillary Clinton's campaign comes from the NBC News/Marist poll of voters in New Hampshire and Iowa.

In New Hampshire, Bernie Sanders is leads Hillary by 41 to 32%.  That nine point lead by Sanders contrasts to Hillary's ten point lead (42-32) in July in the last poll by the same organization in New Hampshire.  Joe Biden has gone from 12% in July to 16% in the latest poll.  If Biden is not included in the race, Sanders lead over Hillary actually increases a little bit.  In head to head races, Hillary loses by 6 to Jeb Bush and is essentially tied with Donald Trump in New Hampshire.  Finally, in NH, Hillary has a 60% unfavorable rating by all voters including a staggering 27% of Democrats.

In Iowa, Hillary leads Sanders by 11% (38 to 27%), but that lead is down from 24% in the last poll by this group in July when she led by 49% to 25%.  As you can see, Sanders inched up slightly, but Hillary lost nearly a quarter of her support during that short period.  Hillary loses big in head to head races in Iowa against Bush (50 to 39%) and Trump (48 to 43%).  Her unfavorables in Iowa are 61% with again fully 27% of Democrats in that group.

The conventional wisdom has been that once a candidate is well known and has unfavorable ratings as high as Hillary now has, there is no way to recover.  Of course, just a few months ago, Donald Trump had those high unfavorables and was very well known, and he reversed the opinions of the voters to a great extent.  That means that Hillary can still have hope.  Nevertheless, the problem for Hillary is that she is well known as a politician while Trump was known as something else.  It will be extremely difficult for Hillary to recover from the clear (and correct) opinion that she has been telling lie after lie after lie on the subject of her emails, national security information, the Clinton Foundation and Benghazi.  Most people just don't take kindly to being told lies.
