Let's consider for a moment the history of Hillary Clinton's email woes.
1. In 2009 when Hillary Clinton became secretary of state, the law required her to use the federal email system for her regular business communications and to use the special secured federal system for classified communications. Indeed, federal law makes clear that Hillary's email when secretary of state belongs to the USA not to Hillary.
2. At the same time, Hillary chose NOT to follow the law and NOT to use the federal systems for regular business communications. Instead, Hillary decided to send all of her electronic correspondence by means of her private unsecured system.
3. Hillary also used her private unsecured system to send and receive classified information including some stuff that was TOP SECRET.
4. For years, when the state department gathered information requested by Congress or by the public, it never included any of Hillary's communications. No one was told, however, that the reason for this was that Hillary kept control over all these business documents.
5. About a year ago, it became clear to some of the people in the state department that they did not have Hillary's email, and they asked Mrs. Clinton to turn the email over to the state department.
6. About six months later, the story of Hillary's private email system leaked out through the New York Times.
7. In response to the original story regarding the email system, Hillary Clinton held a press briefing at the United Nations. In the course of twenty minutes, Hillary gave her version of how, when and why the private email system was set up. Essentially nothing that Hillary said at that time was true.
8. Since the UN press briefing, Hillary has watched her lies get exposed one after the other to the American people. Similarly, the feds uncovered proof that Hillary used her unsecured system to send and receive classified information. That got the FBI involved, and the current criminal investigation began in earnest at that point.
I review all this because the news today is that Bill Clinton is blaming Hillary's email problems on Republicans and the media. Bill Clinton's point ludicrous. There is no involvement by the Republicans in Hillary's email problems. She created all those problems herself by setting up the illegal email system and then lying about it.
I seems that Bill is joining the club of liars when it comes to email. I don't think the Clintons can help themselves.
