Take The Long View

A famous quote says that in the long run we are all dead.  That is undoubtedly true, but when it comes to charting the course for our country, it misses the point.  In 50 years, a great many of today's Americans will be gone, but hopefully, the United States will still be there.  It will be the home of our children and grandchildren.  We have an obligation to make sure that we leave the country better than we found it, if possible.  We need to take the long view.

In recent years, our government has failed miserably in considering the future.  America has run up huge debt that will have to be repaid by future generations.  The cash raised from this debt has not been invested for the benefit of the future; it has be spent on social experiments that have failed to change anything.  The government has also taken many steps that have actually hampered the growth of our economy, and in so doing, it has reduced the likelihood of future generations obtaining good jobs and prosperity.

The funny thing is that it is the progressives who have stood in the way of progress towards a better future.  Instead of working for a better economic future for all Americans, they have made their goal an "equality" where everyone is equally poor.
