Okay, so last night the House Republicans unveiled their proposals to cut federal spending by $100 billion below the amount that President obama requested in his budget proposal. Within minutes, the Democrats were out with the usual garbage about how the cuts were irresponsible and would hart infants and the poor. The media also chimed in with articles that argued that any government shut down that might result from funding disputes would be the fault of the Republicans. Nowhere in the articles I read was it even mentioned that the current federal budget for the items being cut has been increased by just under 30% in the two years since Obama took over. In other words, the cuts proposed by the Republicans do not even take spending back to the levels of two years ago. The Democrats are screaming that unless the wasteful levels of spending that they adopted are preserved, it will be irresponsible. I learned an apt legal term for this argument many years ago when I first entered law school: "Bullshit!"
the truth is that there is no need for the orgy of spending begun by Obama and the Obamacrats to continue. Spending was out of whack even before the Obamacrats got control, but then it went totally out of control. If bush and the Republicans were like social drinkers, the Democrats were like alcoholics on a permanent bender. True, when some of the spending is cut back, the country may experience some DT's as a result of the withdrawal. If the country is to regain economic health, however, there has to be a period of rehab.
So, here is the message from one blogger to the Republicans in the House: "Never give up; America needs you to keep on fighting!"
