My daughter Julia is suffering from kidney failure. She goes to dialysis three times a week so she can stay alive. Her kidneys were destroyed by lupus from which she has suffered for 17 years. Her main chance not just for survival but also for a decent life is a kidney transplant from a living donor. Needless to say, it is not easy to find such a donor. Sadly, no one in our immediate family is able to donate due to blood type or medical complications.
