Today's news includes a threat from Julian Assange, head of Wikileaks, thqat if he is arrested, he will release the encryption key for another massive and unedited group of secret documents. Assange is wanted for sexual assault in Sweden and, if the US government ever gets off its ass and takes action, he may also be wanted by the US for his part in disclosure of all the secret data. So Assange is elevating himself to the level of threatening governments with retaliation if they enforce their laws.
There is only one proper response to Assange: arrest this jerk, shut down his operation and make sure that everyone associated with Wikileaks pays a price for these games. Sure, there may well be a big cost in disclosed secrets, but if there is ever to be any chance of secrecy again in the future, there has to be a major consequence for disclosure of these documents.
