After the major GOP victory in the elections last month, movement towards the Republicans has accelerated. Witness this report from pollster Scott Rasmussen: "In November, 36.0% of American Adults identified themselves as Republicans; 34.7% considered themselves Democrats, and 29.3% were not affiliated with either major party." This is the first time in the history of polling by Rasmussen that Republicans have outnumbered Democrats, and it is the lowest number of self-identified Democrats ever as well. While these numbers will likely move over the next few years with events, it is remarkable that the GOP has achieved this plurality of party identification.
