The biggest difference is that Romney is now in the lead in the national polls. The real clear politics average shows Mitt up by 1% in the average of all polls. But there are some critical changes besides the polls.
1) The attack in Benghazi, Libya is finally having some effect on Obama. The truth is that Obama was warned ahead of time that there was a threat to the American embassy in Benghazi for 9-11 and he did nothing to improve security there. Once the terrorists attacked, the Obama administration and Obama himself tried to cover up that failure of leadership by claiming that the attack was some sort of response to an internet video (which it was not). The coverup lie has unraveled and that makes Obama's original failure that much worse. I look forward to hearing the discussion of this subject in the upcoming foreign policy debate between Romney and Obama.
2) The dishonesty of the Obama team is also coming more to the fore. Biden, of course, did his usual job of spouting false claims during the debate. Most of the coverage has been about his demeanor (was he auditioning for the role of the Joker in the next Batman movie?) He flat out lied about voting against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq (he voted for both.) He also flat out lied about the administration policy towards requiring Catholic hospitals to provide coverage for birth control and abortion to empolyees. That was not new. What was different, however, is that America got to see the lies and then hear about it afterwards. Being called a liar is almost an American political tradition. Being perceived by America to be a liar is, on the other hand, a death sentence. For years, the media protected Obama from the label and it worked well enough. Now, the media can no longer protect the Obamacrats from the truth.
We still have weeks until the election, but right now, it looks like the Obama campaign is in trouble.
