After a campaign that has gone on and on and on and on, the Iowa caucus is finally happening tonight. The media will focus on who is winning and losing. That's not as important as the size of the turnout. The question is how many Democrats like someone in the field enough to spend three hours listening to boring speeches by supporters of the various candidates in order to vote for one. If turnout is down from 2016, it is a form of vote against the entire field. It would also be an early sign that the Democrats are just not going to gain the type of support needed in order to win in 2020.
