Looks Like The Debate Mattered

We finally have multiple polls from Iowa that measure the GOP electorate after the Republican presidential debate last week when Trump refused to attend.  These latest polls show three things.  First, Donald Trump's numbers are down by about 5%.  Second, Ted Cruz is essentially tied with Trump; the polls show Trump 1% ahead of Cruz which is well within the margin of error.  Third, Marco Rubio has made big gains.  One poll puts Rubio at 22%, within just a few points of Trump and Cruz.  In another, the gap is larger, but Rubio has still moved up into the top tier.

It seems that Trump made a mistake by running away from the debate.  Iowa voters do not seem to have liked the spectacle of a presidential candidate throwing a temper tantrum.  Especially if the weather works tonight to keep down the turnout at the caucuses, the results will be up in the air.  Trump, Cruz or even Rubio could win.

Or, these latest polls could all be wrong.
