Not Very Ghouta

Ghouta is a suburb of Damascus in Syria.  Right now it is held by anti-Assad rebel forces.  Ghouta, however, is under siege by the Assad/Iran/Russia/Hezbollah alliance.  People in Ghouta are dying in droves from attack but also from hunger, thirst and disease.  The 30 day cease fire in Syria approved by the UN Security Council was supposed to stop the suffering of the residents of Ghouta by allowing humanitarian supplies into the area and temporarily ending the attack.

It hasn't worked.  Yesterday, the USA called out the Russians for continuing to bomb the area despite the cease fire that Russia itself voted for.  This is not attacks by smart bombs that only hit military targets.  The Russians are using bombs that hit the area generally, like some sort of updated version of the air war in World War II.  Civilians are not inadvertent targets; they are intentional casualties of the Russian air campaign.

Have you noticed the silence in the mainstream media about this illegal bombing campaign?  Have you noticed the silence in the streets of Europe and across the USA.  None of the usual anti-war campaigners are even discussing this war crime by the Russians.  Had the planes hitting a town in Syria and killing civilians been American, there would have been an outcry (along with the required, if formulaic denunciation of President Trump.)  Had the planes killing Arab women and children been Israeli, there would be pandemonium across Europe and the Middle East.  These, however, are Russian planes, so no one says much of anything.  It's disgusting.
