I just got a tweet from senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut in which he denounced the Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats. Here's what the tweet says:
I asked DNI Coats to provide a clear answer on whether Pres. Trump ever asked him to counter and deter Russian meddlers. He couldn't do it.
Americans deserve honesty from the White House, especially on vital security matters like this. I won’t stop fighting until we get it.
That sounds pretty bad, doesn't it? But there's a problem: Blumenthal attaches video of his question and Coats' response. Coats say that he can answer the question but only in a classified session. In other words, the information that Blumenthal seeks is available but classified.
Blumenthal says that Coasts couldn't respond and makes it sound like Coats was tongue tied because he didn't know what to say. The truth is that Coats was simply following the requirements of the law to keep classified information secret.
I'm tired of hearing from left wing politicians like Blumenthal who just make stuff up. There's no need for Blumie to "fight" to get answers. All he has to do is ask the question in a classified briefing.
