Ezra Klein writes for the Washington post and is a frequent guest on the various far left MSNBC shows. Today, he wrote a post on the WaPo blog in which he explains why the federal government is not like a household. He explains that the reason for deficits in households is excessive spending, but that for the government deficits are caused by inadequate revenues. Best of all, Klein cites "wonky economics blogs" as the source for his reasoning. There is no question that the quality of journalism in the USA has declined over hte last few decades. Klein, however, brings it to a new low. He is reporting what is being posted on unnamed "wonky economics blogs"! Which ones are those? Anyone who looks at the levels of spending by the federal government over the last three years would see that Washington in the age of Obama is spending money at a much higher rate than it ever did under Bush or his predecessors. In the first month of his presidency alone, Obama pushed spending up by close to a trillion dollars. As the saying goes, facts are stubborn things! Despite the facts, Klein is out there today blaming the deficit just on revenue declines. I guess the wonks who write those economics blogs do not bother to check their facts either.
