So, other than the slogan, what is the plan?

Remember "Winning the Future"? That is president Obama's slogan for promoting economic growth in the long term in the USA. Obama has given quite a large number of speeches on this point. Like most of what has been written on his teleprompter the speeches were long in vague oratory and very short on specifics. One thing that was made very clear by Obama was the importance of building high speed rail lines across the country. According to Obama, these rail lines would result in much greater growth. Even when a number of state governors said no thank you to the high speed rail, Obama still promoted it as the answer to much of what ails the economy. Of course, in the budget deal that was just reached, much of what was set aside for high speed rail has been cut from the budget and Obama is touting this as a great success. So if high speed rail was so important, why is cutting it a success?

Now, Obama is about to make a speech regarding how to cut the deficit. It would be nice if Obama would issue a detailed plan for spending and revenues for the next decade so that everyone could look at the specifics of what he is proposing rather than just hearing another vague but well delivered speech filled with platitudes. Oh wait! Obama did deliver a very detailed plan for spending and revenues. It was called his budget proposal, and he sent it to congress less than two months ago. In the detailed proposal, the president called for increased spending and no cuts of any sort. Now, seven weeks later, we are supposed to believe that Obama has changed his view and that this is not just a political ploy. Well, it would be easy enough for Obama to amend his budget proposal and send a new document to Congress. Obama could give details about the specific cuts he wants to make and the specific taxes he wants to raise. That would be actual leadership on his part, not just political posturing. My guess is that all we will get will be the speech. Obama is not a leader, he is a speaker. Indeed, in Obama's world, the most important things is what Obama says, not what actually happens.

I have not said this for a while, but it is time to bring this back: Obama has got to go!!
