Chris Murphy -- Senator for the Past

I noticed that the Chris Murphy for senate campaign is advertising on my site. Murphy is the congressman from Connecticut's fifth district. He has been in office since 2007. Since Murphy is a total unknown outside of that district (and in much of the 5th as well), I thought I would look to see his policies to see if he merited support. I found that he is an advocate of all the failed policies of the past. here are a few examples:

On energy, Murphy wants to reduce fossil fuels and replace them with solar, wind and hydroelectric. He talks about being involved in an effort to get two old dams to produce enough electricity for 2000 people! Then he discusses the need for public transportation running between Springfield in Massachusetts, through Hartford and down to New Haven. In other words, he wants to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to buid a system that will carry probably 1500 people a day at a continuing loss.
Murphy makes clear that he has no use for fossil fuels of any kind. I have written often about the availability of natural gas to run America's power plants, heat America's homes and even power America's vehicles. This abundant, domestic, less expensive and substantially cleaner fuel should be the wave of the future. Murphy, however, is tied to the old vision of the eco-left.

On the economy, Murphy talks about how important the stimulus was to our current economic growth. For me, this is enough said. the man has no understanding of economics. That much is clear. Indeed, much of his discussion of economics consists of discussing the need to limit the bonuses paid to bankers.

Murphy is also still making a big deal out of his opposition to the war in Iraq. Maybe he missed it, but for Americans that conflict is essentially over.

In short, Murphy's views a mired in the past. He did not have one fresh idea that he listed in his positions. he provided no reason why anyone, Democrat or Republican, would want to vote for him. Connecticut deserves better. Indeed, I think that Murphy's law must have been named for Chris. You know the one -- anything that can go wrong, will go wrong! That's Chris Murphy!
