this afternoon, in a vote of 51-47 that was totally along party lines, the Senate voted against repealing Obamacare. that means that every Democrat in the chamber is now on record once again supporting Obamacare. The senate also voted to repeal the 1099 requirement for business at the $600 annual limit. It seems that the Democrats were looking for something that they could repeal so that they would seem at least in part to be responsive to the views of the public.
My guess is that we have not heard the last of this issue. I expect it to hold center stage for the next two years and in the 2012 campaign as well.
