People Are Dying....Well Maybe Not

The mayor of San Juan has been saying that people have been dying in Puerto Rico due to a supposedly inadequate federal response.  There has been much push back from the Trump administration and the President himself talking about the huge federal relief response.  Media groups like CNN and MSNBC have been talking about terrible conditions in Puerto Rico and failed relief efforts nevertheless.  The mayor's claims of people dying have gotten major play on the mainstream media for days now.

Well, here's the scoop.  No one has died in Puerto Rico in a storm related death since the storm passed the island.  There were sixteen deaths attributed to Maria within a day of the winds dying down and the relief effort starting.  Ten days later, the number was still at 16.  No one is dying due to the relief efforts.

Geraldo Rivera got an interview with the mayor and asked her about her claims that people have been dying.  Her response was amazing.  She said that people who do not have enough food are "dying" and that people who are dehydrated from not enough water are "dying".  Geraldo asked her if she would like to rephrase her claim that people are dying, and she responded with a resounding NO.

Remember, it's not just that the mayor once said that people were dying.  In the middle of storm ravaged San Juan, she somehow first had a shirt printed up with the message "People are dying" on it and then wore that shirt to countless interviews during which she repeated the bogus claim.  It's a lie, promoted by the many liars in the mainstream media.

It's also worth noting that the head of FEMA was asked about the mayor today.  He spoke about the need for a unified command to get the aid distributed.  FEMA set up a joint command center for San Juan and the surrounding region the day the storm abated.  All relief is run out of that office.  The mayor of San Juan has not once bothered to coordinate efforts with that office.  NOT ONCE!  She has been too busy giving TV interviews.  She should have been scouring the city to find truck drivers, usable trucks and road repair crews so that the enormous amount of aid on the docks could get out of San Juan and to those in need.  She really is a disgrace.  Now is not the time to play politics.
