Why Is This A Surprise?

NBC is reporting that special prosecutor Robert Mueller is investigating the Podesta Group which was founded by the chairman of Hillary Clinton's campaign John Podesta and his brother.  This company is a high powered Democrat lobbyist/political consultancy group that represented the Ukrainian president in the years prior to the 2016 election.  NBC is reporting also that this latest move by Mueller came from its look into John Manafort who was briefly Trump's campaign chair.

It's hard to imagine that anyone is surprised by this.  The story on Manafort was that his company worked for the president of Ukraine who was favorable to the Russians.  This was supposedly the tie between Manafort and Russia, at least in many of the stories pushed by the media about supposed collusion.  But the media rarely, if ever, reported that what Manafort did was not to represent the Ukrainian in the USA but rather to recommend that he hire an American representative/agent.  Manafort recommended The Podesta Group.  It was Podesta that took millions from the Ukrainian friend of Russia and it was also Podesta that had the ongoing contact that the media said was so suspicious.  There have also been reports that The Podesta Group failed to register as an agent of a foreign power when it took the job from Ukraine, but I cannot verify that as a fact.

Wouldn't it be funny if Mueller's first indictment was of a high powered Democrat group.  After all, failure to register as a foreign agent is a crime.
