The Reign in Spain Seems Hard to Now Explain

The government of Spain seems to have lost its mind.  It sent Spanish police to stop an election in Catalonia in which voters were to indicate whether or not they supported Catalan independence.  Police and paramilitary units raided polling places and shut them down.  In the fighting that erupted, close to 400 people were injured (at latest count).  The idea that national police would be used to stop a referendum is insane.

I wonder which genius in the Spanish government decided that storming polling places is a good idea.  Whoever he or she is, today should be his or her last day of employment.  Indeed, if one wanted to guarantee that Catalan independence gains support, it's hard to imagine a better move than this.

Shame on the Madrid government.
