The most interesting and exciting result in all of today's primaries is in New Jersey. Democrat Bob Menendez was nominated to run again for the senate. He won by a margin of about 60% to 40% over an unknown who really did not campaign. I live in the New York media market which covers the majority of New Jersey voters; I did not hear a single ad on radio or TV for Menendez's opponent. It's truly amazing that an incumbent senator has 40% of the voters of his own party vote against him and for an unknown candidate who didn't even campaign.
I guess that even voters in New Jersey did not like it when Menendez took "gifts" from a major campaign contributor and then did "favors" for that contributor. The apparent corruption led to a lengthy federal criminal trial the ended with a hung jury.
It would be more amazing if the Republican candidate Hugin were to beat Menendez in November. New Jersey is solidly Democrat although some Republicans do win there. Menendez out to be a cinch to win re-election, but maybe, just maybe, the voters will toss him and his corrupt ways out of office.
