Harry Reid -- An idiot/savant who is not a savant

As I have mentioned before on this site, I get a myriad of political e-mails every day. Most are unremarkable, but I got one today from Human Events that I have to share. Here is the pertinent part:

"Somebody is poisoning Harry Reid’s cafeteria food. How else do you explain the Democrat Leader’s position that taxpayers should be funding a “cowboy poetry festival” in Nevada each January?
Just hours ago, Reid took to the Senate floor to label the spending cuts that the House Republicans have proposed as “mean-spirited” because they would eliminate federal subsidies for the National Endowment of the Arts, National Endowment for Humanities, and National Public Broadcasting.
And, according to Reid, if the government doesn’t fund the National Endowment for Humanities, then what will ever come of his state’s “cowboy poetry festival?” The nerve of those Republicans!"

It sounds a bit bizarre, so I went and watched the video. Sure enough, there was Harry Reid saying that without a federal subsidy, the tens of thousands who come to the cowboy poetry festival "would not exist".

No one is ever going to give Reid a medal for intelligence, that is for sure. The Cowboy Poetry Festival is one of those expenditures that opponents of funding would normally raise as a reason for NOT funding the national Endowment for the Humanities. Reid, however, raises it as a good example of why the NEH is needed. It seems unlikely to me that many Americans want to borrow money or pay higher taxes so that cowboys can spout poetry in the middle of Nevada.

Reid is a great symbol for the Democrats, a true jackass.
