This morning brought some improved news on new unemployment claims. The number is at the lowest point since April although it is still way too high. The four week average fell to 396,500 which marks the first time in half a year that the average is below 400,000. perhaps the best message to take away from the figures today is that the fears of a double dip recession that were so rampant just 6-8 weeks ago seem to be fading. There is no big growth in the economy yet, but at least America is not falling into another dip. Let's hope that the trend continues in the right direction. It would be great if we could get a president who would push for things that wouldhelp growth rather than spending all his time on his re-election, but even without competent leadership, the US economy is holding on.
