Michael Barone is known for his encyclopedic grasp of American politics. As a result, he often appears on TV to discuss the details of one election or another. Barone, however, is also a columnist for the Washington Examiner. Today, in a column about president Obama and US relations with Canada and Mexico after the decision by Obama to punt on the Keystone XL Pipeline and the explosion of Operation Fast and Furious, Barone puts the whole thing in proper perspective in three lines.
"A president who showed respect and friendship for the governments and peoples of other nations would not have connived in the smuggling of guns into Mexico and would not have blocked the import of oil from Canada. But, on these and other foreign policy issues, we don't have such a president right now. We have a presidential candidate with a negative job rating desperate for re-election."
Well said, Mr. Barone!!
