It's Coming...Get Ready

For those of you who doubt whether or not the Assad forces in Syria will be using chemical weapons to kill tens of thousands, I call to your attention a little noticed story that broke today. The Assad regime has warned the Syrian people that the rebels may be about to use chemical weapons. That's right, the regime with hundreds of bombs filled with nerve gas and the planes and artillery pieces needed to deliver them is now warning that its lightly armed opponents who do not have chemical weapons are about to use them. Assad is laying the foundation for his own use of the weapons. Either he will claim that the rebels used the weapons and he did not, or, more likely, he will claim that the rebels were the first to use the weapons and he is just retaliating in order to prevent the rebels from continuing to kill with nerve gas.

I hope and pray that this is just a bluff, but I truly think it mad to see the connection here. Who knows, maybe Hilary will make another statement about red lines or president Obama will repeat that Assad must go. That is all the USA ever does. I wonder if that will change after 100,000 Syrians are gassed. I would say "don't hold your breath", but given that we are talking about gas, that seems inappropriate.
