The Man Who Isn't There

When he was being elected president Barack Obama promised that America's veterans would be well treated under his administration and that they would not have to suffer long waits for treatment by VA hospitals.  This was not a casual promise made in response to some off hand question at a press conference; it was the subject of a speech that Obama read to a group of veterans whose support he was seeking in the election.  It was stated in carefully worded prose that was prepared in advance.  In other words, any normal human being would expect that Obama meant what he said and actually intended to at least monitor the health care given to vets by the VA.  Now it turns out that Obama made no effort to track the healthcare given to the veterans.  The promise was just another of Obama's lies.

Here is what Obama's spokesman Jay Carney had to say yesterday about the reports of abysmal treatment of veterans by the VA:

"He [Obama] is not at all pleased with some of the allegations and will be extremely unhappy if some of them prove to be true."

Really?  Think about that statement and what it actually means.

1.  First of all, it means that Obama does not know what is going on at the VA.  The reports of year long waits for treatment are not facts but mere allegations that may or may not be proven true.  The president of the United States says that he really does not know enough about the Veterans' Administration to be able to tell America what actually happened there.

2.  Second, Obama, who is in charge of the government including the VA, does not take responsibility for the actions of that government agency.  Obama is not embarrassed or ashamed at the terrible treatment given to veterans.  No, Obama is just a bystander who will be unhappy if the allegations of mistreatment turn out to be true.

3.  Obama is not taking charge of the VA to get it to clean up its act.  There is no big investigation underway by the administration.  Obama is still just a bystander who is waiting to learn about the truth or falsity of allegations so that he can decide whether or not to be happy or sad.  The president is supposed to be in charge of the government, but Obama just sits in the White House and observes others run the government.  At least, that is what he wants us all to believe.

4.  Worst of all, Obama is not offering any plan to provide veterans with the health care that they were promised and which they deserve.  Obama will be unhappy if certain allegations are proven true.  Other than his professed unhappiness, Obama has not further plans for the future of the VA.  Is he kidding?  Simply put, WHAT THE HELL IS HE WAITING FOR?
