Through the campaign, the low point for Hillary Clinton was announcing that half of all Trump supporters are deplorable and irredeemable. She was denouncing something like a quarter of the country as racist, sexist, homophobia, etc. Now, after Hillary lost, some of her supporters are busy protesting. People in a half dozen cities and at a host of college campuses are blocking traffic, marching, cursing Trump and the Republicans, and even worse. On Twitter, there are morons calling for the assassination of Trump or his impeachment before he takes office. In short, it is a massive temper tantrum of the sort that would do any two-year-old proud. But think about what it really means. Here are cadres of committed Democrats who are out protesting the vote of the people of America. That's what it is: a frontal attack on the idea that in our democracy it is the people who get to choose their leader. Look, these fools don't have to be happy with the result. There were certainly millions of people who were unhappy in every presidential election in the last century. Unhappiness is one thing, but fascistic mob attacks seeking to thwart the will of the people is something entirely different. Someone ought to warn these morons that they are not doing their cause any good. It may work on campus to throw a tantrum and get a weak response from a pliable or even sympathetic administration. On the other hand, telling the average American that his or her vote should not count is not going to win friends. You can bank on that.
