They Still Think They Know Better

This morning, I came across two articles that embody the reaction that most of the mainstream media still has to the election results.  First, there was a column in the Boston Globe by Michael Cohen in which he explains why the millions who voted for Donald Trump actually voted against their own interests.  Then there was another article published at In These Times which explained why Hillary Clinton's loss was just a victory for blatant sexism.  There are more like these, but I still find it amazing that these self appointed know it all pundits still have the nerve to tell America what really happened.  First of all, remember that these are the same folks who a few weeks before the election were telling us all that not only would Hillary win but also that she would use her popularity to run up Democrat majorities in the House and the Senate.  Even on election day, they were still telling us that Hillary would win.  The year before they told us that Trump had no chance to get the Republican nomination; Jeb Bush was the clear front runner.  The media pundits didn't make a mistake; they made a career of being wrong about the election.  Without a doubt, these supposedly insightful people had no idea what the American people were thinking.

Beyond their history of total failure, however, these media types also have their incredible conceit in which they still think they know better what the country thinks than the country itself.  People voted for Trump and against Hillary because Hillary is a woman?  That's ridiculous.  There may have been a block of voters who chose Hillary because she was a woman, but it was a very small group.  Still, that small group was larger than those who voted Trump because Hillary is a woman.  Gender was not the defining issue in the election.  Hillary lost because she had no message other than that she isn't Trump.  She lost because she is completely dishonest, corrupt and uncaring.  It wasn't sexism.

And how about all those voters who voted against their interests?  Sorry Michael Cohen, you don't get to decide what is in the interest of other Americans.  It's called freedom; we each have the choice to decide our own interests.  We did, and that decision led us to Trump.

I guess it is a good thing for the mainstream media to stay so far away from the truth.  It makes them laughable and unable to influence people with their intolerance and hatred.
