That makes all the difference in the world

This afternoon, the White House put out the word that Obama is furious at the effects of the oil spill and the failure to stop it. Wow! After only 7 weeks the man gets to the point where he has spokesmen announce that he is angry. Why do I not believe a word of this. It could be because I am predisposed to not believe Obama (which is true), but PLEASE!!!!! Is there anyone so gullible in the USA that they believe that after seven weeks of being Joe Cool about the oil spill, Obama has suddenly gotten angry? Why? I know his poll numbers are tanking, but is that the reason? Or is it that Obama keeps getting bashed by friend and foe alike for not caring about the folks on the Gulf. After all, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi all voted for McCain. Maybe he is angry because oil has now reached Florida which Obama carried in 2008. My best guess is that his chief political guy Plouffe to Obama that he ought to seem angry. It probebly appears as a stage direction on the teleprompter. Maybe ever other sentence is followed by something like and instruction that says "Grimace here!" or "Grunt in anger".

why is it that after seven weeks the White House still thinks that the most important thing is atmospherics. No one truly gives a damn whether or not Obama is angry. We all know that he is not. What everyone wants (and that included both Republicans and Democrats) is for the leak to be stopped and the mess cleaned up ASAP. Stopping the leak is not Obama's fault -- what can he do but rely on the experts. But cleaning up the spill and avoiding the environmental damage, that is something that Obama could have thrown his weight behind. Instead, he spends his time going to dinners, raising campaign cash, playing golf and making statement. Doesn't the USA deserve a president who actually knows how to accomplish something? I certainly think so. Instead we did not elect Dr. Doolittle--We got Dr. Do Nothing!! Obama has got to go!
