What happened to equal opportunity?

It used to be that the goal of the US government was to provide equal opportunity to all citizens. Obama and the Obamacrats are trying mightily to change that into equal outcomes for all citizens. In other words, competence and talent are irrelevant; everyone must have the same outcome. Simply put, this is the death of the American Dream.

In the financial reform bill that the senate is to vote on next week, there is a requirement that every financial agency and all contractors who do busines with those agencies have to have gender and race balance among their employees. That means that investment banks, law firms, banks, accounting firms and the like who do busines with the government will have to meet male/female quotas; race based quotas and the like. Do we want an attorney to draft a contract? Yes, but we have to be sure that there is one woman, one man, one white, one black, one Asian, etc. who do it. It does not matter which attorney will do the best job; no, we just want diversity so that all prosper.

This is yet another blow to the ability of the USA to compete. In those countries where the best and brightest succeed, there will be a better group of employees than in the US with these new quotas. Moreover, the bill establishes 22 new offices in various agencies to monitor whether or not these quotas are met. If each office only employs 20 people, that is nearly 500 new federal employees whose job it will be to destroy the US economy.

The Obamacrats cannot leave office soon enough.
