The dam has burst on the attempt by the Department of Justice to stonewall Congress about Fast and Furious. Earlier today I discussed the new documents that indicate that Attorney General Holder was told of the Fast and Furious program in October of 2010, long before he claimed in his testimony to Congress that he first heard of the program. Now, we learn that Congressman Lamar Smith, the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee has written to president Obama asking for the appointment of a Special Prosecutor to look into whether or not Holder committed perjury. In that letter, Smith points out that Holder got weekly briefings about Fast and Furious from the National Drug Intelligence Center "beginning, at the latest, on July 5, 2010," and that "These updates mentioned, not only the name of the operation, but also specific details about guns being trafficked to Mexico."
Indeed, Holder has now changed his story about Fast and Furious. He has repeatedly confirmed his congressional testimony as correct, but today he now claims that he did not understand the question asked of him.
Let's get that straight: the Attorney General of the United States of America says that he did not understand the meaning of the question which was "When did you first learn of the Fast and Furious operation?" Really?
Holder should resign at once. If he does not go on his own, Obama needs to dump him. If that does not happen, he should be impeached.
