Somehow this goes unnoticed -- Syria

I have written many times about the ongoing violence in Syria. The brutal regime of Bashir al Assad has been kiling those who protest against the government as well as thousands of others in a terror campaign to scare the populace into backing away from the protests. The death toll is now over 3000 killed and many more wounded. Today, there were only 17 dead reported. Now, while it may seem hard to believe, things are even getting worse. Turkey, which borders Syria on the North, has been calling on the Syrian government to stop the killing. As a result Syria is threatening to take action against Turkey if it continues on this course. Syria says it will take strong action against any country that deals with the opposition council, and that is clearly a reference to Turkey.

There is also news today that a delegation from Cuba and Venezuela has visited Damascus and denounced the protest movement in Syria as an American plot against the regime. Even for Cuba and Venezuela, that is a dumb move. Under Obama, the USA has done essentially nothing in connection with the Syrian protests. Obama is giving more support to the crazies at Occupy Wall Street than to the folks in Syria who are trying to get rid of a savage despot.

If you want to see videos of dancing cats or singing children, they are available on the internet and they get hundreds of thousands of hits in just a few days. The destiny of Syria and the slaughter of innocents by a rabid group led by Assad, however, gets very little notice. Shame on the media and shame on those who let the media get away with burying this story.
