Just a short time ago, I was in my car listening to the news on CBS radio when a moment occurred that truly shows the actual quality of that media outlet. After a big musical flourish used to indicate an important story about the presidential campaign, a reporter announced this tease question: With Herman Cain out of the GOP race for president where will his supporters go? That was followed by a political director of CBS who told the audience in authoritative terms that Cain's core supporters liked him because he was a Washington outsider; that means that none of his support would go to Newt Gingrich. Indeed, since Cain is a businessman, many of his supporters will go to Romney. After that, another blast of music came on and another reporter asked this: with Herman Cain out of the Republican race, how will the GOP contest be affected? At that point, the reporter explained that Cain's Republican voters had nowhere to go but to Newt Gingrich. So, in the space of a minute, CBS broadcast authoritative sounding statements explaining that the Cain support would not go to Gingrich and then that it absolutely had to go to Gingrich. The truth is that CBS has not got a clue what will happen, but they just do not have it in them to admit that.
