This morning brings news of a new Quinipiac poll of Pennsylvania Republican voters. In the presidential race, Newt Gingrich is in the lead, this is pretty much in line with the other recent big state polls. What I find more interesting, however, is that former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum gets the support of only nine percent of the GOP voters. In other words, in Santorum's home state he can no longer even break ten percent. I realize that Santorum has invested a major effort in the race and may want to see how the Iowa results come out before departing. Nevertheless, he ought to be prepared to get out of the race on the day after Iowa. Otherwise, he just looks foolish and wastes time that could be devoted to the real candidates.
