In the New York Post this morning, there is an article about comments made by Guy Molinari which, in a nutshell, show what is wrong with American politics. Molinari is head of New Yorkers for Romney. He also used to be a congressman from Staten Island as well as president of that borough of New York City. Molinari is quoted by the Post as saying: “God help us if Newt Gingrich is elected president. I won’t vote for him. I love my country too much.” He then calls Gingrich "untrustworthy". This sounds like a major criticism until Molinari explains the reasons for his views. It seems that when Gingrich was Speaker of the House and Molinari was a congressman, Gingrich did not give Molinari the committee assignment that he wanted even though, he claims, Gingrich told him that he would get the desired assignment. That's right, Molinari is nursing a 15 year old grudge about a committee assignment and translating that into total opposition to a Gingrich candidacy.
The USA faces so many problems right now. Must we really hear about silly disputes like this? What is next? Will we hear from some guy who wanted to go to his high school prom with a date that went with Newt instead? No doubt!
