Rasmussen is out with its latest poll of Republican voters with regard to the GOP presidential nomination, and the results are truly shocking. First place in this latest poll goes to Newt Gingrich with 38%; Romney is second at 17%; Cain and Paul are both at 8% and no one else breaks 5%. Gingrich is up 24% from where he stood in the previous Rasmussen poll one month ago. Romney is down 7% during that same time. These are extraordinary numbers. The poll questioned 1000 likely GOP voters, so the margin of error is not large. If these numbers are even close to correct, Gingrich has moved into a lead larger than anyone else has achieved previously in the race. It will be very interesting to see what happens over the next two months.
