What a difference a few days make. This morning, as I listened to the CBS News World News Roundup, I noted that the first four stories were about riots in cities across America. You know, RIOTS, those things that until this week were "peaceful protests" where people were injured, building torched, lives destroyed and cops attacked. Suddenly, CBS News seems to have adopted the slogan "all riots all the time". But there's a twist; with a Fake News group like CBS, there always is. Today, the twist is that the riots are all President Trump's fault. For about 90 seconds, there was a piece on how the President is going to the site of recent rioting, Kenosha Wisconsin. CBS made clear that this is a really bad idea; Trump will cause more rioting according to the reporters who couldn't even find rioting for the last three months.
Let's take a look at Kenosha and Trump for a moment. The riots started in response to the shooting by police of Jacob Blake. Forget that Blake is a criminal who was illegally threatening his former girlfriend and who so worried her that she called the cops for help when he stalked her outside her home. She told the cops he was armed. When the cops arrived, Blake refused to leave, resisted arrest, and after the cops were unsuccessful in getting him under control ran to his car and reached inside for what the cops thought was a gun (it turned out to be a knife.) That is when the cops shot him. But forget all that; let's instead pretend that we are CBS so we will just report that an unarmed black man was shot by a white cop in the back, and then protests broke out across the city.
What actually happened at that point was that rioting began. Arsonists burned down scores of businesses, mostly owned by minorities. Homes were vandalized and burned. Businesses were looted before they were burned. What better way to honor Jacob Blake than to destroy the lives of countless of Kenosha's citizens.
President Trump (you know that evil guy in DC who is such a racist) immediately offered the Democrat governor of Wisconsin federal help in getting the city back under control. The governor rejected the request. The mayor of Kenosha asked the governor for 750 state troopers or the national guard. The Democrat governor rejected that request too, but sent 200 state troopers who were to guard government buildings. (Some help governor!) The riots got worse. After a few days, President Trump offered help again. This time the governor recognized that Kenosha was being leveled by a mob that consisted mostly of people from other places who had come to the city just to riot. Trump's offer was accepted and within hours, federal forces and national guard were in Kenosha. That was the end of the riots.
So Trump used federal forces to end the riots, those very riots that the Democrat governor was afraid to confront (or at least refused to confront.) And now, the same governor tells us that Trump is to blame for the riots, and he shouldn't come to survey the damage.
