War and Peace

Remember all the way back to 2016?  That year the Democrats told us that voting for Donald Trump was voting for endless wars.  The line from the Dems was that Trump was either a warmonger or an incompetent who would stumble into needless confrontations and wars.  America's military would pay the price and our standing in the world would be destroyed.

Well now it's 2020.  As bad as this year has been on so many fronts, it certainly has not been filled with wars involving the USA.  In fact, in the last four years, President Trump has ended wars, not begun them.  Unlike Obama/Biden, Trump has not started any foreign wars.  Obama/Biden put US forces in harms way to confront and fight ISIS in Iraq and Syria, but these forces were so limited in their rules of engagement that the battle went slowly and was needlessly bloody for US forces.  Trump changed that and ended ISIS and its caliphate quickly.  Under Obama/Biden, the USA was on the edge of war with North Korea.  Trump didn't achieve nuclear disarmament with the NK regime, but we now have a much more peaceful relationship with that country.  War is now much less likely.

Then there's the Middle East.  As President Trump moved forward with his changes to US policy in the region, the Dems and the "experts" told us repeatedly how that new policy was doomed to failure and how it would prevent any peace for ages.  Of course, in the last two months, Trump's policy brought about peace agreements between Israel and the Arab states of Bahrain and the UAE.  There are persistent rumors that peace with Saudi Arabia is on the horizon for the Israelis as well.  The Palestinians no longer have a veto over everything that happens in the region.

So how are the Democrats reacting to being so wrong over the last four years?  Joe Biden is now saying that only he and his party can bring peace to the world.  President Trump, they say, will just start and cause more wars.  Seriously, Biden -- who voted for the Iraq War (that Trump opposed) -- is now campaigning as the "bringer of peace."  Okay, I realize that saying that Biden is campaigning is a bit of a strong word.  Still Biden's press releases and his speeches to empty rooms contain his claim to be an opponent of war.
