Today, the North Korean ambassador to a UN panel in Geneva said that there was a grave danger that war could break out at any second on the Korean peninsula. It seems as if the ambassador is trying to bring attention back to North Korea. Apparently, the sinking of a south Korean navy ship by the NK's was not enough to interest the world. This clear act of war was just shrugged off by the worlds governments and basically ignored by the media. No protests erupted in world capitals against the NK's torpedoing a south korean ship and killing 46 sailors while wounding many more. Truly, the basic response was something akin to "Who cares?"
On the other hand, when the Israelis try to stop a ship running the Egyptian-Israeli blockade of Gaza and get attacked, the is world wide outrage over the Israelis then attempting to defend themselves from the attack. Sure, if the Israelis had not come to the ship in the first place, there would have been no fighting, but if the Turks and terrorist supporters on the ships had acted the way that peace activists would have acted, there also would not have been any casualties. Here, the never ending din of the world media is overwhelming.
So nuclear North Korea goes to war against South Korea and no one seems to care. the 28,000 American troops in South Korea do not seem to matter. The media treats the story as if someone ran a red light in Muncie, Indiana. Then, comes the flotilla. But for the failure of BP and the Obama administration to deal with the oil flowing into the Gulf, this story would be on 24/7 on all the news media.
True -- it is bad enough that the news media follows these stories in this manner. Worse, however, the Obama administration seems not to be able to deal with either set of facts. We have done nothing with regard to North Korea. We have done nothing to make clear that Israel has the right to defend itself -- even against terrorists posing as "peace activists". Of course, since Obama and the obamacrats have done nothing to clean up the oil spill, I guess it is a question of competence. More correctly, it is a question of lack of competence.
Obama has got to go!
