Sayfulo Saipov, the Uzbek immigrant who killed eight and wounded many more in yesterday's terror attack in NYC, spent weeks planning the attack according to the latest from the authorities. The terrorist followed the instructions of ISIS to the letter in how to carry out such an attack. He checked out all the locations for the attack in the weeks before he struck. He left a note in his vehicle proclaiming his allegiance to ISIS. The goal was to kill infidels in the name of Islam and ISIS. So why are some in the media still refusing to call this a terror attack. They say that the incident is "being treated as a terror attack". No, it's a terror attack. It wasn't workplace violence. It wasn't a disgruntled former employee. It wasn't a psychotic act by a mentally deranged fellow. It was a terror attack by an agent of ISIS.
It's also something that has many on the left in a tizzy. This morning President Trump denounced the program under which Saipov entered the USA: the diversity lottery. That program gives green cards to 50,000 people selected at random from those who apply each year. The President has been clear that he wants to change the law to admit those who have skills that would benefit the USA rather than just selecting people at random. That random drawing was the brain child of Chuck Schumer.
Maybe someone can explain how the USA benefits by admitting people at random who might be Islamic terrorists. Shouldn't everyone be carefully vetted before entry? In an age of terror attacks shouldn't the USA take steps to defend itself? Are we so in awe of the concept of "diversity" that we are to assume that a few dead bodies now and then is worth the price to get diversity? Would the Democrats in congress who brought us this mess keep it in place if the few dead bodies were Democrats in congress or their families? This is all madness.
It's time to change the immigration laws. We need to stop illegal immigration. We need to get rid of the illegals in this country who are criminals. We need to provide a way for illegals who have been here for a long time to have a path to legality (not citizenship). We need to get those who are newly arrived illegally to be deported. We need to change legal immigration so that it benefits the USA by importing those with skills rather than those who will just be here to use the welfare system. We need to restore the idea that immigrants need to become Americans by learning and adopting our culture. Diversity is acceptable, but it surely is not a benefit. Immigrants need to learn to speak English. Immigrants need be educated about the American system of government. Immigrants need to be able to be absorbed into this country.
