More Lies About Tax Reform

If you're a Democrat and you want to fight against the Republican tax reform package, what do you do?  Easy, you find a group with a name that sounds non-partisan and then you put out a "study" that explains how the tax plan will raise taxes on the poor to pay for cuts for the rich.  The problem, of course, is that the study is phony and the conclusion is untrue.  That's not stopping the Democrats, though.

Here, for example, is a piece of a study put out by a group that calls itself the "Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy".

 

If you want to understand why this is bogus, all you have to do is to look at the states that this phony Institute says will pay more.  Remember, the biggest fight in the tax reform package so far has been the elimination of the deduction for state and local taxes.  We've been told for months now that high tax states like California, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Illinois will get crushed by the bill.  Now look at the list above and notice that none of those five states high tax states are on it.  Without looking at anything else, that one fact tells you the list is completely bogus.  Remember, Florida has no state income tax, so its citizens will no longer have to pay federal taxes at higher levels to subsidize the high state taxes in other states.  Nevertheless, the phony Institute study tells us Florida will pay more in net new taxes than any other state in ten years.  It's total nonsense!

 

This is the sort of phony "study" that the Democrats and the media come up with in order to bash a plan that will provide jobs, higher wages and economic growth for the American people.  That result would be a big blow to the Democrats because it would prove to a new generation of Americans that the private sector can do much better growing the economy than the government.  We had eight years of no growth/slow growth with Obama.  We can't let the Democrats and their media allies trick America into staying with their failed policies.
