Last year, the investigation of supposed collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia led all sorts of Democrats and members of the mainstream media to denounce the President for "going soft" on Russia. President Trump just wasn't imposing enough sanctions on the Russkies for their interference in the 2016 election, or so we were told. Trump was Putin's puppet and wouldn't take any action that might displease Russia, or so we were told. And this wasn't something that was said once and forgotten. The charges that Trump was going soft on Russia were repeated so often that they seemed like a mantra being chanted on CNN and MSNBC. Now things have changed, but they are still the same. In Europe at today's NATO meeting, President Trump denounced a huge natural gas pipeline through which Russia is going to sell trillions of cubic feet of gas to Germany. The President condemned the project as one which will give the Russians a large measure of control over the German economy, something that makes no sense for a member of NATO. Killing the project would be a huge blow to the Russians; it would be ten thousand times worse than the sanctions about which the Democrats and the media complained last year.
So what was the reaction from the Democrats and the mainstream media? They are, as expected, appalled that President Trump would say or do such a thing. They accuse him of trying to destroy NATO. They say he is undermining America's friendship with the Germans. Many even accuse him of being too harsh in his treatment of Russia.
Today's reaction is proof that the substance of the President's actions do not matter to the left. All that they care about is just that the President is doing something, anything. No matter what Trump does, the left does not like it. Logic doesn't matter. Consistency doesn't matter. First Trump is not harsh enough on the Russians; then he is too harsh.
Hopefully, the American people see this schizophrenic behavior by the left and recognize it as proof of their insanity on the subject of all things Trump. These are not people who should have power in our country. They would do better if they were committed to mental institutions.
