We've officially reached the silly season with regard to SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The Washington Post is out with the scoop that in the past decade, Kavanaugh used his credit card to buy tickets to Washington Nationals games for himself, family and friends. Oh, the horror! Kavanaugh also went into debt to pay for some home improvements. More horror!
It's becoming rather apparent that the mainstream media cannot come up with any dirt on Kavanaugh. Still, for the WaPo to feature an article about Kavanaugh's buying baseball tickets and doing home improvements is a new low. The credit card usage was all paid off, so there's no concern about outstanding debts that might color Kavanaugh's opinions. Buying tickets to baseball games and doing home improvements are hardly suspicious activities, so there's no worry there. So what is WaPo doing? How desperate are they?
By the way, Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia spoke favorably about Kavanaugh yesterday on a local TV appearance. He said he would listen to the WV voters in deciding how to vote for confirmation. A poll of those voters had come out that morning in which 59% of WV registered voters supported confirmation of Kavanaugh. If Manchin goes for Kavanaugh, it essentially destroys any chance the Dems have of defeating his nomination.
